“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” - John Dewey
It is difficult to keep up with a rapidly evolving profession for any program of study. Architecture is no different. Prevailing public opinion is that academia is often failing to engage with critical realities. In this sense, new education systems entered political agendas all over the globe. Hence we want to question the aims of academia and if a teaching-learning process can still be classically described as a training of critical thinking, acquisition of knowledge and skills, as well as time-management and modes of collaboration? We want to address the future of architectural education within the contemporary phenomena propelled by globalization, new media and communication technologies.
The Practice & Academia cluster gathers graduates as educators and researchers in order to discuss how educating and researching influences their own practice and vice versa.
